Packing Tips

Here are some helpful tips for packing and organizing a storage unit:

Tips for Packing and Organizing Your Storage Unit

  1. Create a Game Plan
Before you start loading your items, take some time to plan the layout of your unit. Keep frequently used items near the front and seasonal or less important belongings in the back.

  2. Label Everything
Clearly label all boxes on multiple sides.

  3. Use Clear Plastic Bins
Opt for clear bins over cardboard boxes if possible to easily see your stored items.

  4. Maximize Vertical Space
Stack boxes and bins all the way up to the ceiling, but place heavier items at the bottom and lighter items on top to prevent crushing.

  5. Protect Your Belongings
Use bubble wrap, packing paper, or old blankets to protect fragile items. Furniture covers or moving blankets are great for safeguarding larger pieces from dust and damage.

  6. Use Pallets for the Floor
Elevate your boxes and furniture off the ground by using pallets or boards. This helps to protect your belongings from potential moisture.

  7. Seal Boxes Well
Use quality packing tape to securely close boxes and prevent dust from getting inside. Double-tape the bottom of boxes holding heavy items for added security.

  8. Keep a Checklist
Maintain a written or digital inventory of everything you’ve stored. This can be a lifesaver if you need to find something quickly or if you ever need to file an insurance claim.

By following these packing and organizing tips, you’ll keep your storage unit neat, efficient, and easy to navigate!
